How to Prepare Your Child For Camp This Summer
As you may have heard, it was recently announced that summer camps in Ontario are permitted to open their doors. Since hearing this announcement, our team has been very busy planning our Kickin’ Karate Summer Camp. We are very excited to welcome back your child in a safe and clean environment where they are guaranteed to have a blast!
We understand that as a parent, you may feel a strong sense of concern about sending your child into a populated environment. Rest assured that we are cautiously following all of the guidelines enforced by the Ministry of Health, and taking nothing for granted.
All staff will be equipped with PPE for their own safety, as well as the safety of our campers. Activities will be customized to ensure a safe distance, as well as easy clean up and sanitation. Some of these activities include dodgeball, soccer, LEGO stations, Bingo challenges with cool prizes and much more!
Campers will also have daily karate classes! This will be a great opportunity to get back in the dojo with in-person instruction. Experience is not necessary, and beginners will have the opportunity to earn their white belt!
You may wonder how you can contribute to maximizing the success of our camp and safety of your child. You can start by having a conversation with them. Ask your child what they know, then carefully listen. Even if responses could be alarming, calmly correct any misleading information they know and reassure them that they will be in a safe space. It would then be a good idea to remind them that activities and protocols will look a little different this season.
Even though some distance will be created between campers, remind your child that this is being done for everyone’s safety. They will still get the opportunity to play with their friends!
Camp is a great way to slowly introduce these new social changes into your child’s routine while ensuring they do not feel overwhelmed, confused or stressed. It also gives your child the opportunity to transition back into building meaningful connections with friends, and making the best out of this summer.
